How to Budget Your Activewear Brand

A Complete Guide

What a First Activewear Order Costs to Produce

Most brands order again within the year, usually the same styles in new colours. Planning your first order with that in mind changes what you buy and how much you commit to any one colour.

The figures below cover bulk production only. Sampling sits outside them at 2 times wholesale plus a USD 30 development fee per custom style, credited back against your bulk deposit.

Not sure what to make yet? Our guide to planning your first activewear collection covers fabric choice, how many styles, and the colours that actually sell.

Ready designs are patterned and graded already, so bulk can start without sampling. Custom work begins at 300 units.

Activewear ranges run tighter than swimwear. Most brands build around black, with a supporting shade or two alongside it, across a focused set of styles rather than a broad collection.

Moving up a tier usually means one of two things: buying deeper in the same colours, or adding a style or two to a line that already sells. Both work. We hold over 85 colours in stock, imported from Korea and the United States, with no minimums and no lead time.

Unit prices cover pattern making, heat-pressed logos, care and size labels and stock zip lock bags. We never add surcharges.

Custom elasticated jacquard waistbands are quoted separately and are the one branding detail a customer notices the moment she pulls a legging on.

Branded zip lock bags start at 300 pieces. That sits above a 250-unit ready-design order, so brands starting there usually run stock bags first and add branding at the top-up.

Your Markup and What You Keep

A legging at USD 16.50 delivered retails between USD 79 and 109. Supply a studio or wholesale account at half retail and the margin still holds, which is what lets a small brand run both channels without repricing.

Fabric is what carries that pricing, because a customer feels the difference in the first wear. Comfort Luxe uses REPREVE® recycled American nylon with a buttery, cotton-like hand feel. Motion Luxe gives a smooth second-skin finish with body-sculpting support and strong stretch recovery. Both are squat-proof and eco-certified. Full specifications sit on our fabrics and colours page.

Our Tax Free Fabric Import Facility reduces landed fabric costs by up to 35%. That saving sits in your margin rather than ours.

Getting Your Order to the Door

Average cost per piece is USD 15. DHL Express delivery adds USD 1.50 per piece, door to door in 3 to 5 days to California or Sydney. USD 16.50 to your door.

Import duties fall to you and vary by destination. Confirm your rate before setting retail prices, not once stock has landed.

The Money Timeline

A 50% deposit releases production, with the balance settled before shipment. Bank transfer and PayPal both work.
Samples run 2 to 4 weeks, bulk 3 to 5 weeks, delivery 3 to 5 days. Allow roughly two months from approved sample to sellable stock, then work backwards from your launch date.
Adding a print? Comfort Luxe is recycled nylon, so we print them digitally for deep, rich, true to life colour and a soft hand feel. Sublimation on polyester is the alternative and suits bright neon shades. Costs and minimums sit on our printing page.

Before You Commit

  • MOQ confirmed: custom designs 300 units total, 30 per style, 3 per size and colour. Ready designs 250 units total, 30 per style, 3 per size and colour.
  • Size ratio weighted toward S and M: 5 S, 5 M, 3 L.
  • Colours chosen with depth in black rather than spread thin.
  • Budget confirmed: production, sampling, shipping and any custom trims accounted for.
  • Launch date set and worked backwards from your delivery target.

The Bigger Picture

Our top-up minimum drops to 150 units, 30 per style and 5 per size and colour. Once a style proves itself, you reorder deeper in the same colour without new patterns or sampling. Buy your first order knowing the second one is smaller and quicker.
